Employment, Training and Volunteering
We have a dedicated and inspirational team who specialise in supporting disabled people and those with long term health conditions into employment, training and volunteering opportunities. Many of the team began as clients and volunteers within DRC and have faced similar barriers to those we address with our clients. Our current projects are:

Positive Pathways
Positive Pathways forms the core part of many of the funded programmes we are currently running. The courses include the following modules:
- benefits’ advice
- social inclusion
- disability awareness
- accessibility issues
- reasonable adjustments,
- one-to-one information, advice and guidance.
A variety of bespoke techniques are used, making this a truly holistic, person-centred programme, empowering participants to gain and sustain employment.
To access support through Positive Pathways, you must be a West Midlands resident, over 18, with a long-term health condition or disability.

Digital Divide
Are you looking for employment or training, but struggling to access or use technology? Digital Divide provides tailored training on a variety of modules, including:
- Creating an email account
- Online Safety
- Use of the NHS app
- Online Banking
- Online Shopping
- Microsoft packages
To access support through Digital Divide, you must be 19 or over, and live in East Birmingham or North Solihull, and looking to learn or improve your IT skills.
Get Connected
Get Connected is a free 8-week programme designed to help adults build confidence using online services and improve employment-related digital skills. The project supports people to access essential online tools for work, benefits, and everyday life.
Participants will receive friendly, face-to-face support with:
- Registering on job-search websites
- Uploading CVs and applying for jobs online
- Completing and tracking online applications
- Managing online services such as Universal Credit
- Building confidence and independence online
The programme is open to adults aged 18+ who have a health condition or disability, including self-diagnosed conditions.
WorkWell
WorkWell is an early intervention work and health service that brings together health, employment and community organisations to support those currently out of work due to ill health or disability to return to work. The service also provides support to those in work who are facing barriers with health issues which might lead to long term sickness or unemployment.
To access support through WorkWell, you must be a resident, working or registered with a GP in East Birmingham, aged 18 and over, and be facing barriers to remain or find work, due to ill health or disability.
