Peri/menopause support in the workplace

BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council), DRC (Disability Resource Centre), and Salus Fatigue Foundation have formed a Partnership to develop a new service to support working people people with menopausal hormonal health issues to stay in the workplace, and to support unemployed people with menopausal hormonal health issues to re-join the workforce.

Our aspiration is that every person of working age who needs support with their hormonal health receives it in a timely and accessible way that is personal to them. The Project will explore how to directly assist women, trans men and non-binary people from diverse communities, as well as people who are affected by their health issues.

A key aspect of our approach will be to encourage small and medium sized workplaces to develop a culture which is more accepting and supportive for people who experience menopause. By supporting an Employer Pledge, we hope to support employers in making people feel confident in applying for employment where their health and well-being will be prioritised. We have developed a toolkit for SME employers to use in their workplaces, and we have been providing menopause in the workplace awareness training and menopause workplace champion training sessions.
